Do you suffer from Orthopedic Injuries?  Did your disability insurer deny your claim for disability insurance benefits?

There are so many orthopedic disorders that it is nearly impossible to list them.  Orthopedic surgeons treat conditions involving the musculoskeletal system.  That system is made up of bones, muscles, ligaments, tendons, joints, cartilage and other connective tissue.  Orthopedic disorders include anything that is concerned with those subparts of the larger system.

Some common orthopedic disorders are sports injuries, bone fractures, soft-tissue injuries including muscle, tendon and ligament strains and sprains, neck pain, chronic shoulder pain, hand pain from carpel tunnel syndrome, low back pain, knee problems like a torn meniscus or anterior cruciate ligament injury, foot and ankle problems including plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendinitis or tear, and many others.  These conditions can cause debilitating pain and totally disable you from performing your important job duties.  These conditions can prevent you from walking, sitting, lifting, standing or typing for long periods, tasks that are required in most occupations.

The side effects from medication can disable you as well.  Prescriptions routinely used by orthopedic physicians to relieve moderate to severe pain include opioid narcotics like codeine, vicodin, oxycodone, hydrocodone, Percocet and Norco.  But with the good comes the bad.  These opioid drugs have well-known common side effects including drowsiness, dizziness, cognitive impairment and lightheadedness.  These side effects can interfere with your ability to perform your job duties, particularly if you have an office job that requires a high level of mental concentration.

If you suffer from a debilitating orthopedic disorder, hopefully you purchased a long-term disability policy or enrolled in disability insurance coverage with your employer.  If you suffer from debilitating pain from an orthopedic condition, there is a good chance you are disabled within the meaning of your long-term disability policy and entitled to monthly long-term disability benefits.
